Untangle provides a powerful suite of Internet management applications for small-to-medium businesses and education institutions. With its free open source application yo can have a Virus Blocker that prevents viruses from reaching computers on the network.

I've been using untangle in our e-commerce office here of about 10 people and it's been excellent. Untangle is currently running on a mid-grade 2 year old Dell with 2gb of ram. The machine has 3 separate low-grade NIC's (make sure you check Untangle's supported NIC's!). We have roughly 13 machines here behind our Untangle setup and have had no problems at all.

As with all valuable computers make sure you run the server with a UPS. Untangle can be particularly finicky if it is shut down 'hard' due to power loss. Usually just requires an extra reboot.

I'd highly recommend Untangle to anyone.
